SXSW Thursday – Arc Iris, Blouse, and Wye Oak

Welcome to our second day of South by Southwest recommendations. Arc Iris starts off the night at Bungalow located at 92 Rainey Street in Austin. Arc Iris crystallizes the evolution of composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Jocie Adams, a former core member of renowned indie-folk band The Low Anthem. They take the stage at 9:00 PM.

Next up we have Blouse who will be at the Hotel Vegas Patio 1500 E 6th Street. I’ve been listening a lot to Imperium, their 2nd LP for Captured Tracks. For this album Blouse have shed the synths, done away with drum machines and wrote and recorded with “instruments that don’t plug into the wall,” as enforced by band member/producer Jacob Portrait. Their set starts at 9:45 PM.

Finally we have Wye Oak, an old favorite after stumbling into a SXSW show of theirs many years ago. A lot has been said (all good) about the lack of guitar on their upcoming April 29th release Shriek, and if you listen to the track above, you’ll know why.  They’ll be performing tonight at the Parish located at 214 E 6th Street. Set time is posted as 11:45 PM.

Have fun tonight and please be safe.
