Making Noise: Lisa Molinaro Finds Her Voice on Blind Trust

For much of her career, Lisa Molinaro has helped other artists tell their stories. As a violist and multi-instrumentalist, she’s recorded and performed with Modest Mouse, The National and The Decemberists, while also co-founding the experimental duo Talkdemonic. With her debut solo album, Blind Trust, Molinaro finally steps into the spotlight herself.

Due July 17, Blind Trust draws on years of collaboration while introducing Molinaro as a songwriter and bandleader in her own right. The latest single, “Peach Fuzz,” offers an early glimpse of the album, blending layered strings, art-pop, experimental rock and cinematic textures into a sound that’s both adventurous and inviting.

The album began to take shape during the pandemic, when the pause from touring gave Molinaro the opportunity to focus on music under her own name. The result is a collection that feels less like a debut than the natural next step in a career that’s been quietly evolving for years.

Many listeners may already know Molinaro’s work without realizing it. Blind Trust offers the chance to hear the artist behind those collaborations, bringing together decades of recording, performing and composing into a record that’s distinctly her own.
