As a lead-up to South by Southwest, The Noise Room is talking to bands and artists performing at SXSW. If you’ll be playing at SXSW and want to be interviewed, please contact us. Here’s what Steve Gunn had to say:
What do like most about playing at SXSW?
I like Austin very much as a city. It’s been a while. I look forward being there again, and seeing friends who are passing through. I plan to be wandering around a bit and checking things bands out at random.
Are you out promoting anything?
I am promoting my latest Album ‘Time Off’, which was released last year on Paradise Of Bachelors. I also have a new album coming out in May on their label and will be playing a few new songs from that too.
Are there any bands or musicians that you are looking forward to checking out?
BL’AST and Mobb Deep
What are the challenges for you or your band when playing at SXSW?
To stay awake and focused. We’re gonna try not to cash out too early in the day if we’ve gotta perform. Also no wandering off. I know it is a whirlwind, so we’ll stay close and only a few tequilas will be in order at the end of the night.
Do you have any survival tips for those attending SXSW?
Drink water if you’re thirsty! Wear earplugs if you are going to see a death metal band. Bring an extra t shirt.
Are you more “stick around, check out music and enjoy the scene” or “play as many shows as possible then get out”?
I think we are going to try to pack in a lot of stuff and bust out.
What are your SXSW Show Times?
This is what is scheduled right now. I know there will be more.
