Miyaxx, the duo of Lea Thomas and John Thayer, have released a video for “Blue Cloud White Sky,” the first single from their upcoming album, Hold Your Ego Out Like a Sun, out September 16.
Thomas is a guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter whose 2024 album Cosmos Forever leaned into slowness and saturation. Thayer is a percussionist, audio engineer, and producer known for folding digital manipulation into otherwise organic recordings. The two are partners in life as well as music, and this album marks their first full release working together as Miyaxx, built from years of collaboration, both formal and informal.
Hold Your Ego Out Like a Sun moves between two modes: passages that feel like Thomas singing quietly in a room, and denser, distorted constructions built from Thayer’s studio work. The result sits somewhere between acoustic duo and electronic experiment, with field recordings, modular textures, and bursts of drums running underneath open-tuned guitar. The two are the only musicians on the record.
Of “Blue Cloud White Sky” and its video, Miyaxx says the work comes from a period of returning to basic truths: that people are part of nature, not separate from it, and that reverence for that connection can feel close to ecstatic.
