Signal Chain: Walrus Audio Lüm Texture Engine Joins Core Series

Some pedals are designed to refine your sound. Others encourage you to rethink it entirely. With the Lüm Texture Engine, Walrus Audio has created a pedal that invites experimentation, transforming familiar guitar tones into evolving textures through a blend of granular processing, reverb, automation, and presets. After beginning life as a limited experiment, the Lüm earned a dedicated following and now returns as a permanent member of the company’s Core Series.

Drawing inspiration from Walrus Audio’s Slö Reverb, Lore Reverse Soundscape Generator, and Fable Granular Soundscape Generator, the Lüm builds on those ideas while carving out its own identity. Rather than simply adding another reverb or ambient effect, it’s designed as a creative platform that fractures, stretches, and reshapes your signal, rewarding experimentation and encouraging players to discover sounds they might not have found otherwise.

Three operating modes form the heart of the pedal. Grain Cloud creates granular textures by breaking your signal into tiny fragments, Grain Verb embeds those grains within lush reverb for dense ambient washes, and Forward / Reverse Verb combines two complementary reverb algorithms to produce evolving rhythmic textures. A dedicated Moment switch provides real-time parameter control, while adjustable Ramp times, a Stretch Engine with sample-rate manipulation from 0.5x to 2x speed, three onboard presets, and selectable trails modes round out a feature set built for players who enjoy pushing beyond conventional sounds.

Available in both guava and matte black finishes with artwork by Emily Ursä, the Lüm Texture Engine joins the Core Series as more than a reissue. It represents Walrus Audio’s continued exploration of pedals that inspire creativity as much as they process sound. Whether you’re building expansive ambient soundscapes or simply looking for new ways to approach songwriting, the Lüm offers plenty of room to explore.
