Marshall Unveils Billie Joe Armstrong 1959BJA Signature Amp

Marshall has unveiled the 1959BJA Billie Joe Armstrong Artist Signature, its first artist-signature amplifier in 14 years. Developed with the Green Day guitarist, the handwired 100-watt head is built on Marshall’s legendary 1959HW platform while incorporating a custom “Dookie Mod” inspired by the unmistakable tone that helped define the band’s breakthrough era.

Inspired by the modified Super Lead used alongside producer Rob Cavallo during the recording of Dookie, the 1959BJA delivers increased gain, tighter low end, and the saturated punch that has become synonymous with Armstrong’s guitar sound. The amplifier remains true to Marshall’s classic plexi heritage while adding modern performance flexibility for today’s players.

Visually, the amp pays tribute to Armstrong’s first guitar, “Blue,” with a distinctive baby-blue finish accented by brass and silver panel details, custom branding, and his signature on both the front and rear panels. Marshall is offering the 1959BJA as a head-only model, allowing players to pair it with the speaker cabinet of their choice.

The release also marks another milestone in the longstanding relationship between Marshall and Billie Joe Armstrong. While fans first caught a glimpse of the amplifier during Green Day’s performance at the 2026 Super Bowl, today’s announcement officially introduces Marshall’s first signature amplifier since 2012.

“I’m so overjoyed to have my own signature Marshall amp. These amps have been a part of my musical life, from my heroes down to little old me. Turn it the f**k up!!”

Steph Carter, Marshall’s Culture Marketing Director, added that the project focused on recreating the punch, aggression, and clarity that made Armstrong’s guitar tone instantly recognizable from the opening chords of Dookie.

The Marshall 1959BJA Billie Joe Armstrong Artist Signature amplifier will be available beginning July 21 through authorized Marshall retailers and Marshall.com for $3,999.99 USD.
